AASHRAY

Aashray is organized as a compact cluster on an 800 sq.m. site, with a central courtyard acting as the social and climatic core. Units are arranged peripherally, integrating private living with semi-open workspaces. Shaded circulation and spill-out zones ensure a seamless balance between community interaction, climate responsiveness, and livelihood.

Cluster Composition & Community Framework

Aashray is envisioned as a cluster-based housing model for the Kharva community on an 800 sq.m. site, integrating living, livelihood, and cultural identity. The layout accommodates two housing typologies—family units and dormitory-style dwellings—catering to varied social structures within the community.

Organized around a central courtyard, the cluster also incorporates a temple and a shared community gathering space, reinforcing cultural practices and collective life. The spatial arrangement seamlessly blends private, semi-private, and communal zones, creating a cohesive, climate-responsive environment that supports both daily living and traditional livelihoods.

The component-level drawings illustrate the spatial efficiency and structural simplicity of individual units, highlighting compact yet functional living environments. Sections and elevations emphasize materiality, proportions, and climatic responsiveness. The inclusion of the temple establishes a strong cultural and spiritual focal point, reinforcing community identity while anchoring the cluster within its social and traditional context.
